Global LocationsMechanical engineer with industry focus
At Sesotec, we combine leading technologies with a deep understanding of industrial requirements. This results in solutions that truly fit.
Our Technologies
As mechanical engineers with decades of experience, we develop and manufacture powerful systems for detection, separation, and sorting. Our technologies are the result of continuous innovation and precise engineering.
Our product inspection systems reliably detect foreign bodies and quality defects – from metal to glass to organic materials. They ensure product quality, protect machines, and ensure compliance with legal processes.
Technologies used:
- Inductive metal detection technology
- X-ray technology
- Magnet technology
Product inspection is primarily used in the food and plastics industries.
With our intelligent sorting solutions, we precisely separate materials by type, color, or shape. This ensures efficient cycles, high purity, and maximum material value creation.
Technologies used:
- Inductive metal detection technology
- Near-infrared technology (NIR)
- Spectral analysis
Our sorting technology is particularly used in plastics processing and the recycling industry.

Know-how in three future industries
We help make food safer, plastics cleaner, and recycling more effective. With our solutions, we protect people, machines, and the environment. Together, we create more quality, less waste – and a better future.
The best of both worlds – For your perfect solution
Our solutions arise from the combination of cutting-edge technology and in-depth industry know-how. We understand the challenges of your industry – and based on this, we develop individual systems that make your processes more efficient, safer, and more sustainable. A Journey Through Our History
S+S electronic
Sesotec was founded in 1976 as S+S electronic KG. Since then, the expertise and product range have steadily grown. Subsidiaries and branches have been established around the globe. Initially, S+S dedicated itself to the development and production of inductive and capacitive sensors.
The First Metal Separator
In 1980, the company launched the first metal separator on the market – the ancestor of the RAPID series and the foundation for our leading position in the plastics industry. Throughout the rest of the 1980s, systems were developed for the glass recycling, textile, and packaging industries, and digital electronics were also introduced. In 1986, the first building at the company's current headquarters in Schönberg, Lower Bavaria, was constructed.
Change of Ownership
In 1990, S+S was majority sold to Hoesch AG, a significant German steel and mining company from the Ruhr area, which was shortly thereafter taken over by the Krupp Group. In 1993, Karl Eibl, Helmuth Frisch, Paul Dittrich, and Franz Greipl bought the company – by then named S+S Metallsuchgeräte und Recycling GmbH – back out of the large corporation and continued to run it independently. Two of the new owners, Eibl and Frisch, had previously held senior positions at S+S and jointly took over the management.
International Growth
Under the new leadership duo, the company grew steadily and began to expand internationally more intensively around the turn of the millennium: in 2001, the first foreign subsidiary was established in the United Kingdom. In 2004, S+S ventured into the Far East and founded a subsidiary in Singapore, followed by the USA in 2007. Sales offices were established in many other countries.
New Constructions
As far as the development and production of our detection and sorting systems are concerned, S+S (and Sesotec to this day) has exclusively relied on "Made in Germany".
For the company headquarters in Schönberg, this meant extensive new construction activities in the 2000s: Several production halls, a new administration building, and a shipping hall were built, as well as the technical center, where potential customers can find fully functional Sesotec systems and test them with their material.
Generational Change and Further Growth
Karl Eibl and Helmuth Frisch remained managing directors until 2013 – and were able to enjoy the company's award in the "Bavaria's Best 50" competition upon their retirement. To prepare a succession plan, Eibl, Frisch, Dittrich, and Greipl sold their shares as early as 2011 to the Munich investment company VTC, which participates in medium-sized companies to enable them to develop independently of a corporation in the long term.
Company Renaming
In the course of international growth, the company name was also adjusted: From 2005 to March 2015, the company operated as S+S Separation and Sorting Technology GmbH. Since April 2015, it has been called Sesotec.
