Sesotec präsentiert auf der IFAT 2024 neueste KI-Technologien NIR-Ai und OBJECT-Ai

At this year’s IFAT, Sesotec is setting pioneering standards in the recycling industry with its latest AI technologies, NIR-Ai and OBJECT-Ai. Where high-tech sensors reach their limits, approaches in artificial intelligence enable the safe detection and differentiation of many materials. At booth B5 415/514, the company is presenting the groundbreaking innovations entitled “SUSTAiN Technologies - Driving the AiVOLUTION” that achieve a previously unattainable sorting performance.

“With the developments of NIR-Ai and OBJECT-Ai, we are significantly advancing the limits of material recognition. These technologies are not only a leap forward in sorting efficiency, but also a milestone in our mission to promote sustainable recycling solutions,” explains Andreas Hanus, Development Engineer and Product Owner Plastics Recycling at Sesotec. 

NIR-Ai - The solution for the differentiation of optically similar plastic products

The challenge of reliably distinguishing between optically very similar types of polymers is often not sufficiently addressed by conventional methods. Valuable raw material may be discarded, leading to losses in the material cycle. Sesotec presents NIR-Ai, a solution based on Artificial Intelligence that allows for precise differentiation, for example, of monolayer PET/multilayer PET. This innovative technology opens up new possibilities for improved sorting performance and, consequently, higher profitability.

OBJECT-Ai - Perfection for optical sorting

The machine sorting of heterogeneous material streams often reaches its limits, especially when it comes to accurately identifying food and non-food items. This is where OBJECT-Ai by Sesotec comes in. Through the color and shape sensor, each object is uniquely classified using artificial intelligence. This enables a reliable differentiation between good and bad material based on shape, color, and texture. In applications where humans can effortlessly recognize differences, while previous sorting systems struggled, new possibilities arise.
