Sesotec Among Germany's Most Innovative SMEs Again
Sesotec GmbH from Schönberg is once again recognized as one of Germany's most innovative mid-sized companies. At the awards ceremony in Heidelberg on June 26, 2026, all winners received the TOP 100 seal. Christian Wulff, former Federal President and patron of the innovation competition, personally congratulated the winners.
Sesotec is a TOP Innovator for the second time. In the category of companies with more than 200 employees, the provider of intelligent devices and systems for foreign body detection, material sorting, and analysis impressed particularly with its innovation processes and organizational structure.
"The renewed award confirms our commitment to systematically drive innovation," the company states. A key success factor is the close collaboration between different company departments. In a specially established innovation committee, management and experts from development, design, sales, and service jointly evaluate new ideas and decide on their implementation.
Sesotec places special emphasis on the use of artificial intelligence. The systems are trained with real data from customer facilities, enabling them to reliably detect and remove even the smallest foreign bodies or material deviations.
New solutions often emerge in collaboration with customers. Pilot projects, such as those in plastic recycling, serve as the foundation for new products that are later used worldwide, primarily in the food, plastics, and recycling industries.
Internally, Sesotec strategically employs artificial intelligence to enhance its innovative capabilities. When AI takes over routine tasks, it frees up time for value-added activities—from developing new ideas to implementing innovative customer solutions.
For over 30 years, the TOP 100 innovation competition has celebrated mid-sized companies that excel in exceptional innovation and sustainable economic success. The scientific selection process is led by innovation researcher Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke from the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
To join the ranks of the TOP 100, companies are evaluated in five categories: innovation-driven top management, innovation climate, innovation processes and organization, external orientation/open innovation, and innovation success. This comprehensive approach assesses innovation capability from strategic frameworks and company culture to proven market success. The award is a powerful testament to enduring innovation excellence.
