Since 2005, SITRAPLAS GmbH, based in Bünde, East Westphalia, has been successfully producing high-quality technical plastic compounds. The range extends from coloring technical plastics to developing customized compounds according to customer requirements for a wide variety of applications.
With over 40 employees and the most modern production and laboratory facilities, Sitraplas is able to implement individual solutions quickly and reliably. The compounds for customers worldwide are used, among other things, in the automotive, electrical, and electronics industries.
The problem: Metallic impurities in purchased recyclate
Purchased recyclate can contain various different polymers, but also metals such as aluminum, brass, or stainless steel. Depending on the size of the metal parts, it may be that screens become clogged or screw damage occurs during the production process. Metallic particles can also lead to contaminated end products. This must be prevented at all costs, as machine downtimes, outages, or recalls are expensive and damage the company's image. Additionally, it results in a significant amount of material being unusable and thus wasted.

The solution: Metal separators that detect and separate the finest metal particles.
Sitraplas uses GF Primus metal separators from Sesotec. Installed in the pneumatic conveying lines, they separate metallic contaminants from the conveyed recyclate in a fraction of a second and safely eject them via a separation mechanism. And all this without interrupting the conveying flow and without reducing the conveying speed.
The customer benefit: Secure processes, high product quality, increased profitability.
The GF metal separators are an important component of the system, contributing both to machine protection and quality assurance. They also ensure trouble-free processing operations. The resulting scrap is collected separately and provides important information about the quality of the purchased recyclate.
"Thanks to the metal separators from Sesotec, our complaint rate regarding metallic contamination is zero. The availability of the systems has been significantly increased, and the risk-free use of recyclate is thus possible," says Tim Hencken, Managing Director of Sitraplas.
Bartosch Jauernik, Product Manager Plastics at Sesotec, adds: "Our metal separators thus make a sustainable contribution to a profitable circular economy."
