Quality assurance for grain mill products

Contaminants can easily make their way into production during grain processing at grain mills, which can have serious consequences, including poor product quality and a tarnished reputation due to recalls. Sesotec machinery and systems provide the remedy to these concerns with fully automatic product inspection using state-of-the-art technology.

For decades, Sesotec has specialized in industrial contaminant detection. Our metal detectors and X-ray systems reliably remove undesirable substances from the grain milling process for consistently high quality.

More detailed information

Why is product inspection important with regard to grain mill products?

Grain mills process grain, which form a key part of people’s diets. Grain mills aim not to waste any resources and seek to make production as efficient as possible. Product inspection systems increase food safety and ensure top quality in the production process of grain products (e.g. flour, semolina, wholewheat, flakes and bran), legumes and nuts.

What purpose do Sesotec product inspection systems serve?

The inspection of spelt, barley, oats, millet, rice and other grain mill products target contaminants. Our machines can be tailored to a wide range of needs. That way, only products of the very highest quality leave your company.

What kinds of contamination and quality issues could occur?

Potential contamination and quality issues with regard to grain and grain products can occur during harvest or processing (e.g. transport during storage). However, carelessness on the part of operating staff can also result in contamination.

What grains and grain products are inspected?

Our contaminant detection systems are used for a wide range of applications. Here are some examples that can be inspected:

  • Spelt
  • Barley
  • Oats
  • Millet
  • Rice
  • Flours/meals

What kinds of technology are used in Sesotec systems?

Sesotec possesses sound expertise across a wide range of technology. The various fields are linked in such way that it is possible to turn modular designs into versatile, application-specific solutions in a cost-effective manner.

  • Inductive metal detectors
  • X-ray technology (e.g. analysis of thickness, chemical composition, etc.)

How artificial intelligence contributes to sustainable and profitable food processing

Despite the breadth of technology available for foreign object detection, certain types of food products remain difficult to inspect via conventional methods. The reason for this is that some foods have high levels of product effect, which can interfere with metal detection. This white paper examines the phenomenon of product effect, the problems it can cause, and why artificial intelligence offers an innovative and promising solution.
