IFAT 2026

Economy meets Ecology

Climate protection, circular economy, and digitalization – three megatrends we at Sesotec transform into tangible solutions.

At IFAT 2026, our visitors discovered how smart sensors and AI-powered sorting systems turn waste streams into high-purity recyclables.

Material Sorting with Artificial Intelligence

NIR-Ai

For precise differentiation, the point clouds defined by the near-infrared sensor's spectral analysis must be distinctly separated. When significant overlaps, as shown in the image on the left, occur, the risk of misidentification increases. Valuable resources intended for recycling are lost. A typical challenge for NIR sensors: Monolayer and Multilayer PET.

OBJECT-Ai

Harnessing Artificial Intelligence, our Color Sensor assigns specific attributes to each object through comprehensive color and shape analysis. This ensures precise classification and differentiation of quality materials from defects based on shape, color, and texture (bounding boxes).

Revolutionary Solution for Black Plastics

CARBON BLACK: Distinguishing Black Plastics

Black plastics with carbon particles have traditionally been "invisible" to standard NIR sorting, posing a challenge in the recycling process. Meanwhile, the demand for black recyclates in new plastic products is steadily increasing, driven by new EU regulations. This makes the reliable detection of black plastics in recycling more crucial than ever, calling for innovative solutions.

Introducing our new VARISORT+ CARBON BLACK with integrated MIR sensor technology, which accurately identifies and sorts carbon-black-containing polymers. This results in high-quality black recyclates with consistent quality—leading to higher yields, improved cost-efficiency, and a sustainable circular economy.

VARISORT+ FLEX Sorting Bridge

Depending on your sorting task and requirements, VARISORT+ UNITY is available as a coordinated complete solution with an ejection housing and conveyor belt, or as a separate sensor module, VARISORT+ FLEX, for existing sorting lines. The VARISORT+ FLEX measurement bridge is ideal for integration into existing systems as a renewal or upgrade, and for providers of complete solutions in the recycling sector.

Glass Sorting System SPEKTRUM+ 3S

The SPEKTRUM+ glass sorting system features advanced C-C sensor technology, enhancing its ability to differentiate between black or dark glass and KSP (ceramics/stones/porcelain). Traditional shard inspection with standard backlighting has been revolutionized with a newly developed specialized lighting and sensor system (new C-C sensor). This innovation ensures that opaque or extremely dark glass is no longer mistakenly sorted out with contaminants like ceramics, stones, or porcelain. This breakthrough significantly boosts glass recovery, allowing valuable dark shards, known for their material density, to remain in the recycling loop and be reused in new product manufacturing.
