Corporacion de Industrias Plasticas S.A. CIPSA ranks among Peru's top 500 companies and is one of the country's leading five in the plastics industry.

Founded in 1960, CIPSA set out to deliver a diverse range of PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) products. Today, with 900 dedicated employees, we boast an impressive annual production capacity of 4,000 tons. Our offerings include commercial products like school supplies, leisure and sports balls, as well as rigid and semi-rigid PVC sheets for industrial applications.

Alongside PE (Polyethylene) and PP (Polypropylene), PVC is one of the most widely used plastics. Its versatile processing and compounding options have unlocked a vast range of applications. Pelletizing is employed when direct extrusion of the dry blend into a finished part is impractical or uneconomical due to frequent product changes.

The Challenge: High Costs from Machine Downtime

To eliminate any metal in the powder, CIPSA aimed to inspect the PVC compounds before they entered the granulator. This approach was intended to protect the extruder screw from damage and prevent costly production halts. On the extruder manufacturer's recommendation, CIPSA turned to Sesotec.

The Solution: Metal Detector Safeguards Machinery from Damage

The installation of the metal separator should be directly after the hopper and before the extruder. Since the PVC powder has no product effect, Sesotec recommended a RAPID VARIO-FS PRIMUS+.

The RAPID VARIO-FS PRIMUS+ is a metal separator for free-fall applications, easily integrated into any existing pipeline due to its low profile and standard connections.

It detects and separates both magnetic and non-magnetic metal contaminants, making it the perfect solution for industries with low hygiene requirements and products without product effect. With the PRIMUS+ electronics, featuring DSP technology and a 32-bit processor system, CIPSA's sensitivity requirements for all metals were met.

Customer Benefit: A secure extrusion system ensures CIPSA uninterrupted production.

The RAPID VARIO-FS PRIMUS+ with cutting-edge technology from Sesotec impressed CIPSA. This metal detector slashes costly machine downtime, minimizes production interruptions, and offers a swift return on investment. Looking ahead, CIPSA plans to install an additional metal separator as a final check post-processing to inspect pellets after production. "In terms of product quality, customer service, and technical support, CIPSA holds an outstanding market reputation. These are the same principles that drive Sesotec. This shared commitment unites CIPSA and Sesotec!" says Rodrigo de la Reguera, Sales Director Latin America at Sesotec Inc., USA.
